Music in Our Schools Month
March is Music in Our Schools Month and Melissa visits music teachers throughout the District to celebrate all the amazing musical opportunities available for our students. Along the way we are reminded that Hot Cross Buns is a rite of passage, we learn that sometimes a percussionist looks like a floating arm and that our music programs are rooted in tradition.

Nolan and Abby share all about how competitions work, how they prepare, the wide variety of events available and the leadership training they receive as members of the Chapter. SkillsUSA is a Career and Technical Service Organization at SHS whose mission is to empower students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders and responsible community members.

Jeremy Behnke, Principal at Lincoln Heights Elementary, and Dr. Andrew Dick, Superintendent join Melissa Price to talk about the Elementary Modernization Project including the work that will be completed over summer break, the work also being finished at Roosevelt and Longfellow Elementary schools, the Play Strong Playground project and how we are able to complete all of this work and provide amazing learning environments for our elementary students with no additional impact to property taxes
Getting ReConnected to School and Community
In this episode, Melissa sits down with four students from ReConnect, Brianna Hightower, BradJay Benavides, Duane Bauer and Morgan Handy to talk about the program as well as all of the great work ReConnect students have been doing in the community. We learn about the snack preferences of a certain ReConnect staff member, a birthday party for a chimpanzee, and the students impart some wisdom for ReConnect underclassmen.
