For the first time since the creation of the Nebraska Department of Education AQuESTT (Accountability for a Quality Education System) Classification System, Scottsbluff Public Schools has received a Classification of "Great". The AQuESTT accountability system uses student assessment data to classify schools and school districts as either Needs Support to Improve, Good, Great, or Excellent. In addition to the District moving up in classification, five of our seven schools moved up in their classification.

Scottsbluff students showed widespread improvement in the NSCAS state assessments across grade level cohorts in both Math and English Language Arts. As measured by the statewide Math assessment, all grade levels showed improvement from the previous year, and all but one grade level performed above the state average. As measured by the statewide English Language Arts assessment, all grade levels but one showed improvement from the previous year.  Grades 3-8 and grade 11 are assessed.

"We saw excellent growth in our assessment scores this past spring," said Mike Mason, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction. "The improvement is due to the hard work and dedication of our teachers, administrators, and content area specialists. They provided targeted instruction and support to students who may be struggling in specific subject areas, and it's clear that their focus and intentionality positively impacted the students' learning outcomes."
